BIOGRAPHY

Paulus Augustinus Jacobus Maria Janssen, better known as Paul Janssen, was born in Hoensbroek on 13th December 1960. The former mining town of Hoensbroek in the province of Zuid-Limburg is now part of the municipality of Heerlen. You are cordially invited to visit Hoensbroek Castle, situated opposite the Lake of Dreams (Droomvijver); it is the grandest castle between the Maas and Waal rivers. The castle sports a dungeon, a ghost, a pestilence tower and a secret chamber; writer Bertus Aafjes lived there for a while.

Anyways, Paul Janssen studied English Language and Literature in Groningen and Manchester (that unintentionally rhymes). He writes poetry about kiwi and mango fruit, love and war, waiters and bowlers. Janssen also dances, the tango to be precise.

Some of his poems made it into the anthologies Sprong naar de Sterren (Jump For The Stars; Kwadraat, 1999) and Het Hogere Noorden (The Upper North; Passage, 1997). Also, his work was published in various literary magazines and newspapers.

He has performed his work in Groningen and elsewhere, also on radio during VPRO's late night show Music Hall.
